Hello everyone

I was wondering if you have made case for leadership coaching at your organization, agency etc how did you go about it? What did you consider in order to get leadership buy-in especially as this pertains to them?

Thank you

Hi Janet,

In my experience, starting with why this is needed and what benefit there is to them helps to create interest and buy-in. In one organization, the coaching was more volun-told than volunteered, so I structured it as a pilot first. In that way, the value would "prove out" to the other leaders. It was also helpful that the two leaders who went into the pilot wanted to have coaches, so they brought positive attitudes and real perspectives and lessons learned on the back-end to the leadership team. If your leaders are data-driven, you could look up statistics on productivity increases, or well-being for employees, positive org culture effects, etc., on places like MIT and HBR.

Hi @Karida Palmer, fantastic suggestion. I like your term "volun-told" even as I wasn't thinking that term specifically it is what I see happening. I work in a culture that doesn't seem to have any exposure to coaching at all. When I did their one-on-ones after a 360 review the first line leaders participants praised the 360 coaching a lot. Now I am having the thought of selling the idea to leadership but in an environment that has quite fully understood the impact. A pilot would be a great starting point. Thank you for your insights.
