Hi everyone!
Our organization is looking to do a bit of benchmarking for facilitator roles so I'm hoping to get some insights from the community.
General questions:
- What's your organization size?
- Do you have full-time facilitators (employees whose time is primarily spent facilitating in-person or virtual live training)?
- Do you have L&D team members who split time between facilitation and other aspects of L&D? If so, what are the other areas they cover (e.g., eLearning design, LMS management, etc.)?
- If you don't have facilitation centralized on the learning team, who facilitates live trainings?
Benchmarking questions for facilitation role:
- About how many sessions per week/month does each facilitator handle?
- Does capacity vary depending on session type (intensity, size, length, prep), demand, travel, etc.?
- What's your utility ratio for a facilitation team? (I.e., How many facilitators do you have compared to the number of employees in the organization eligible to attend live trainings?)
- How much time do facilitators reserve for activities that are not facilitation (e.g., internal meetings, design/development, professional development, etc.)?
- How do you determine the number of facilitators to have per class or session? (E.g., audience size, topic, standard of two for all classes, etc.)
- Do you set guidance around class sizes? If so, how do you determine the guidance (e.g., topic, activities, goal, function/org size, etc.)?
Any information you're willing to share is greatly appreciated!
