Hi Debbie! I had to look up Job Hugging. :) We aren't strategically managing this, but my org has seen so much change in leadership over the last couple of years that any dips in engagement likely would have been a result of the vast amounts of change. That said, I can see why this could be a problem. Every day on LinkedIn another professional is begging for help and using the last of their savings after being laid off/reduced/let go over the last couple of years. Staying in your current role at least provides a paycheck.
I don't have insight to our Employee Relations issues to identify if this is happening across the organization. I can say for our team, we have many people with over 10 years of tenure, and I think that there has been a lift with engagement under the new leadership despite the changes.
I do look forward to hearing other thoughts though, and am glad you asked the question.
